As a two-week strike by binmen in Brighton and Hove begins to bite, the view from one resident's front window is blighted.
A letter to the council was called for:
Dear Sir,
I wish to complain in the strongest possible terms about the binmen's dispute which has led to rubbish piling up all over the place.
The photo above was snapped in Hove and the scene is an absolute disgrace which brings shame on our town!
Just look at it! There are discarded and rotting supermarket bags, piles of sodden cardboard, festering bin bags and even an old car jack!
To make matters worse, I understand some items from the Townwomen's Guild's forthcoming "Party 'Til You Puke" evening - including some inflatable "aids" - were stolen from their meeting place next door and dumped on top of the skip, although I have yet to have this confirmed.
Please, settle this dispute.
Regards,
Reg.
