A man used a wheelie bin to capture an alligator which wandered into his front garden in Mount Dora, Florida.
Oh ho, ho, ho, ho! How very drole, I'm sure. What most readers of this story - and viewers of the video! - failed to grasp was how it illustrated a very real crisis which is facing society.
I felt it warranted an urgent letter to the boys and girls at the City of Dora Waste Management department.
Dear Guys,
I was shocked and saddened to see a city resident using a wheelie bin to discard an unwanted gator.
Video footage clearly shows him using a GREY bin to dispose of the creature. We are clearly instructed to only use our grey bins for recyclable items, such as bottles, cans and newspapers.
Has the city council developed a scheme for recycling alligators? If it has, please ignore the rest of this missive and accept my heartiest congratulations.
If it has not, however, then surely this wanton example of what I can only describe as fly-tipping should be punished. Always remember, it's the BROWN bin for general household waste!
Why should the rest of us try so tirelessly to reduce landfill by recycling our guns, explosives, machetes and elderly relatives when people such as this flagrantly flout the rules?
Please pass on my sympathies to the guys down at the recyclable items sorting depot - if any of them are still alive?
Kind regards,
Reg.
